Third day of women’s European Volleyball Championships brought another victories of main medal favorites. The wins taken by those teams gave them lead in the groups tables.
At the opening game of Sunday in Ankara Serbia won with Bulgaria 3-1, despite quite a big advantage of their rivals in the first set. Also Greece took a 3-1 victory by defeating Finland.
Both games in Łódź finished in three sets as Slovenia beated Portugal in the match of the lowest classified nations of the group, while Italians easily won against Ukraine.
Budapest saw another weak game of Azerbaijan, this time not winning a single set against fourth team of the last year’s World Championships, Netherlands. Later on, Romania won 3-1 against Estonia in the game that might be important in the matter of an advance to round of 16.
In Bratislava Spain took its first victory, surprisingly defeating Belarus 3-1. The other Sunday game finished as expected – Russia didn’t lose a set against Switzerland.
