Tuesday was the first day at Lima 2019 Games with no medal and not even a single final spot for Cuba. Team USA however managed to keep the medal streak with one-two in both finals held that day.
In men’s 50 m rifle three positions Michael McPhail and Timothy Sherry outstanded the rivals. McPhail was the main contender for the gold, however his standing shooting was much worse and he finished with silver, 1,9 points behind his teammate. Americans couldn’t have won an Olympic quota. This went to Mexico, as Jose Luis Sanchez took the bronze medal, and Argentina, thanks to fourth place of Alexis Exequiel Eberhardt.
USA took also first two places in men’s individual trap with Brian Burrows winning the competition ahead of Derek Haldeman. This time it brought two Tokyo 2020 berths to the USA not only in the men’s individual trap, but also in the respective mixed team event, as USA has two quotas in women’s trap too. The podium of Pan American Games was completed by Roberto Schmits from Brazil.
