New IOC members proposal announced along with IOC Athletes Commission candidates

The proposal to elect three new IOC Members was made by the IOC Executive Board during the last day of its meeting in Lausanne. Also 30 candidates for the Athletes Commission elections to be held during Tokyo 2020 Games were announced.

The three IOC Members-to-be are Yasuhiro Yamashita, head of the Japanese NOC, David Haggerty, President of ITF, and Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA. Yamashita’s membership is to be linked with his function in the NOC while the other two are to be members as the heads of their IFs. The voting for their membership in the IOC will be held during next month’s IOC Session held at the beginning of the Winter YOG in Lausanne.

During the Tokyo 2020 Olympics the IOC Athlete’s Commission elections will be held. The Executive Board announced the names of the candidates. Among them there is the current vice-chair of the Commission, Danka Barteková. The full list of the candidates is:
